Welcome to Tejasvi Kapur’s Official Blog!!!

A word from Tejasvi…

I have been a frequent visitor to other webbsites/blogs to enhance my knowledge and inputs. It was generally felt that one site will have one particular type of information and shall lack everything else, for which I had to visit elsewhere. It was my endeavour to come up with a concept which is very much my own.Hence, this particular piece of work that is in front of you NOW!!The highpoint of the site is that this is an infotainment website ie. Information + Entertainment.

I aimed at putting in all the essential ingredients at one place such as Weather,Calender for date-wise view,Today in History,Word of the Day,Quote of the Day,Pun of the Day,Painting of the Day,Integrated SoundCloud and Youtube Playlists(Trending This Week),BBC World News Feed,Android News Feed and ofcourse RSS Feeds.

With this, the work becomes Multimaterial and Multifaceted and is able to cater to needs of one and all across the board.

Your suggestions, views and feedback is highly solicited.

Thanks and Regards

Introduction of RSS Feeds

I am glad to introduce RSS feeds for my blog.

With RSS it is possible to distribute up-to-date web content from one web site to thousands of other web sites around the world.

RSS allows fast browsing for news and updates.

Why use RSS?

RSS was designed to show selected data.

Without RSS, users will have to check a site daily for new updates. This may be too time-consuming for many users. With an RSS feed (RSS is often called a News feed or RSS feed) they can check my site faster using an RSS aggregator (a site or program that gathers and sorts out RSS feeds) also known as an RSS Reader.

Since RSS data is small and fast-loading, it can easily be used with services like cell phones or PDA’s.

For accessing RSS feeds, click on https://tkmechaero.wordpress.com/rss-feeds/

Because of your consistant cooperation and feedback, this blog has been able to attain its present status.Kindly continue to extend the same in future too.

Thanks and Regards

Snake avoidance necessary for dogs

Snake avoidance class important for dogs

By DARA JOHNS | Daily News columnist

Published: Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 09:35 AM.

Dear Readers,
I wanted to give everyone with dogs the heads-up about a radical training opportunity.
The Emerald Coast Vizsla Club is sponsoring a Snake Avoidance Clinic. The class will be held May 2 at 356 Whitfield Road in Freeport.

Dogs are trained to associate the smell, sound, and site of a snake with a negative reinforcement. Conducted by Dr. Bud Calderwood, the dog is fit with an E-collar that is calibrated for the dog’s size to provide a substantial correction when the dog encounters a snake.

A course is laid out with snakes rendered safe by removing their fangs and taping their mouths shut. The dog learns to avoid the snakes by the end of the class. For more information, contact Sue Towne at 850-585-6892 or email her at suetowne8@gmail.com.

The cost of the class is $50 for the first dog and $40 for each additional dog in the family. If the dog has been through the class before, the cost is $35 for a recheck.

This is an important thing. We saw our first snake bite of the season this past week. It was a Black Labrador Retriever, and the way I understand it this dog was a hero.

He got in between the snake and a child and took the bite. If he had not been around, the child would have probably been at the hospital.

The snake bite we treated was of the viper category. The vipers include Copperheads, Water Moccasins, Rattlesnakes, and Pigmy Rattlers. They have a venom that is hematoxic and cytotoxic.

Hematoxic means toxic to the blood. This venom causes the blood not to clot. Cytotoxic means toxic to the cells. It causes immediate damage to the tissue at the site of the wound and to the blood vessels, causing them to rupture easily. Deteriorating tissue and unstoppable bleeding is a lethal combination.

The other kind of snake we see in the Panhandle is the Coral snake. It’s venom is neurotoxic. It affects the brain and nervous system, causing them to shut down. It’s bite is always fatal to dogs and cats.

These snakes are a colorful red, yellow and black. The rhyme to remember is “red on black, OK for Jack; red on yellow, kill a fellow,” which means if the color pattern puts the red against the black it is a nonpoisonous rat snake. If the color pattern puts the red against the yellow it is a poisonous coral snake.

However, there can be color variations that involve white and could confuse the issue. So if a snake has red, yellow and black coloration, I recommend running as far and as fast as you can go.

If your pet is bitten by a snake, keep it as calm as possible. Try not to cause the heart to race.
Take it to the nearest veterinarian or emergency service. Do not apply a tourniquet. It can cause severe damage to the circulation.

Your veterinarian can help you make educated decisions about the course of treatment necessary when you arrive at his facility.

The venom of the Viper group can be counteracted by a multivalent antivenin. It is expensive, and not all regular veterinary clinics keep it on hand. If it is needed, the veterinarian may contact the local hospital in search of a supply.

The local Emergency Veterinary Clinic carries it unless they have had a lot of snake bite cases and have not been able to restock.

The scary thing about antivenin is that it may not be there when you need it. The price for the antivenin at this time is around $700 dollars per vial. Depending on the size of the pet, more than one vial may be required.
For antivenin to be effective, it is best given within two to four hours of the snake bite, so time is of the essence. Damage that has already occurred cannot be reversed. Waiting too long to start the treatment can be fatal.
Snake bites are dangerous and destructive. Again, this is why the avoidance class is so important.

So, if your dog is at risk of being exposed to snakes, consider attending the class on May 2. Pre-registration will help them prepare for the turn out. Call Sue Towne at 585-6892 or email her at suetowne8@gmail.com.
